New to lifting?

Getting started with anything is daunting. From writing the first line of a blog, to picking up a brand-new hobby…

There is just too much information out there, we’re bombarded with it from all angles, especially women. You should do this, wear this, eat this, watch this and whatever you do… READ this. It’s all too much.

You should read this though: strength training for women is important, and getting started can be simple.

Firstly, what equipment do you need? Yourself, two pairs of dumbbells, and a mat. That’s all. Most beginners start with 2 kg for upper body and 4 kg for lower body. If it feels light, add reps. If it feels heavy, try one dumbbell.

Then you just need to use them, starting with just two 30 min at-home sessions. We have workouts on our website you can use, or you can find an online PT you connect with to follow on Instagram. If you follow unbound, we share a lot of our favourites for all life stages.

That’s it.

Seriously, don’t over think it.

Small plug, since we get asked the “how do I get started?”, question a lot. We built a Starter Set so at least your equipment is a “one-click” decision…

And we created a “Beginners Guide” where you can read more too.

Happy lifting!
